Designed to stop solid materials and debris, carried by road water runoff, from entering a public drainage network. They are the first entry point for road water runoff into public sewers and are extensively used to trap solid materials that could otherwise cause problems, in the form of sediment deposition, in downstream drainage structures or receiving waters.
