Guide to Trex Decking
How to install Trex decking
To start your deck design, mix and match all tropical boards on the jobsite.
Start lining them up, putting dark against light, as a practice run to help visualise the final look. You’ll see that the variety of colour board by board develops its own rich, random pattern full of lights and darks.
Continue mixing and matching boards to ensure an appealing mix of light and dark tones across the entire deck.
How much is Trex decking?
Whilst Trex decking boards are made from 95 per cent recycled materials, these require careful processing in order to maintain the highest quality and performance.
Although the initial cost of Trex may be more expensive than traditional timber decking, costs are saved throughout the deck’s long lifetime thanks to the elimination of annual maintenance costs – meaning it’s actually better value for money.
However, our Enhance Basic range reaches as low as £43.91 for a 3.66m board, such as our Square Deck-Board Clam Shell.
How to clean Trex decking
Spray deck with soap, then follow by gently scrubbing each deck board with a soft bristle brush. Spray/rinse each individual deck board using fan tip no closer than 8" from the decking surface. Rinse thoroughly.
How long does Trex decking last?
Trex Composite Decking is warrantied for 27 years.
Basically, this means that you can expect your composite deck to last at least 27 years without serious structural issues like rotting, moisture damage, sun damage/fading, and other such problems.
How thick is Trex decking?
Deck boards are roughly one inch thick, but this varies per product.
Our Trex decking is between 14mm-25mm in thickness. This ensures a high level of durability.
How to cut Trex decking
It is recommended to use a circular saw for cutting composite decking quickly, efficiently and accurately.
You could also use a table saw or mitre saw, but the portability of a circular saw makes it more handy. It's best to cut composite decking in the morning while the air is cool.
How to take care of Trex decking
Using the high-performance shell allows Trex to add better aesthetics to the boards, including more refined grain detail and richer colour palettes. This shell also makes maintenance incredibly simple – an occasional pressure wash or soapy water will be enough – and it also provides fade and stain resistance.
It’s because of this shell that Trex is able to warranty its boards for 25 years when fitted by TrexPros – even with the minimal maintenance required.
